Benvenuto! Expectations For Italy!

Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Emma Dawson (ED) and I will be documenting my time spent abroad in Italia!

Let's go over some expectations I have for my study abroad experience:

1. I hope to visit multiple cities along the Amalfi coast and take lot of pictures of them!

2. I am excited to try lots of delicious foods and pastas! (Note: because I follow a gluten free diet, I am especially excited to be staying in a country that is very aware and understanding of Celiac disease)!

3. I hope to practice both fare bella figura (showing respect in my dress, manners, and behavior) and the dolce vita (sweet life) that Italy has to offer.

5. I will push myself to practice Italian and speak basic sentences with those around me!

Although this is my first time studying abroad, I feel confident in my ability to be flexible and adapt to any situation I am given. My past experiences of travelling around all corners of the United States has definitely prepared me for long travel days, directions, and always being prepared!

In conclusion, I plan to keep an open mind during my trip to Italy. I am excited to try new things and see so many beautiful sites while still keeping a realistic and grounded perspective of where I am.  Because I have no huge expectations of this trip, I am going into it with the mindset that I will make the most out of the opportunities that will be presented to me.

Just a few more days to go until I am officially in another continent! Time to crack open the planner and spreadsheets!

See you there!!

-Emma
